Schloss Klippenstein in Radeberg, Saxony, Germany, is a striking Renaissance castle perched on a rocky cliff above the Röder River, first documented in 1289 as a medieval fortress with a 40-meter keep tower, outer ward, and water defenses from the Große Röder and Hofgrundbach streams.

Elector Moritz of Saxony transformed it from 1543–1546 into a luxurious hunting lodge and residence with three wings, Renaissance gables, horse-accessible stairs, dwarf houses, sandstone portals, and painted beam ceilings under architect Hans Schickedanz's influence, hosting Saxon nobility frequently.

After serving as administrative offices, courts with prison cells, and municipal uses through the centuries—including GDR-era cultural spaces—it faced decay until city ownership and restoration efforts since 1993, now operating as a museum since 1952 showcasing Radeberg's industrial history, architecture, and the preserved "Black Kitchen."
