Schloss Kropsburg
Sankt Martin, Germany, Germany
Schloss Kropsburg above Sankt Martin in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, originated around 1200 as a strategic hilltop fortress to guard the imperial castle at Trifels, later serving as a Speyer bishops' fief and from 1441 the seat of the Dalberg knights, Germany's first imperial barons.
Destroyed in 1689 during the War of the Palatine Succession, it was rebuilt by the Dalbergs before their early 19th-century sale; today privately owned with a restored manor house, outer bailey tavern, and hiking trails offering wine region views.
