Schloss Kunrau
Klötze, Germany, Germany
Schloss Kunrau is a historic manor house built between 1859 and 1861 in the village of Kunrau, now part of Klötze in Saxony-Anhalt's Altmarkkreis Salzwedel district, Germany, commissioned by landowner Theodor Hermann Rimpau after a fire destroyed earlier estate buildings.
Designed in the style of Berlin villas by a student of architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, it features a prominent tower, two-story structure, and later early 20th-century additions like a winter garden and garden hall in Italian Renaissance style, set within a restored park on the site of a Rittergut established in 1559 by the von Alvensleben family.
Post-World War II, it served as refugee housing and a planned cultural center before extensive renovation post-reunification, now owned by Klötze and housing a city library branch, event spaces, and cultural exhibits amid the UNESCO Drömling Biosphere Reserve.
