Verified Schloss Lindich

Hechingen, Germany

Schloss Lindich is a rococo-style hunting and pleasure palace built between 1738 and 1741, located a few kilometers west of Hechingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

It was commissioned by Prince Friedrich Ludwig of Hohenzollern-Hechingen, who used it as a summer residence and hunting lodge despite financial difficulties. The palace is surrounded by six small mansard-roofed cavalier houses arranged in a semicircle, which were used to house court officials, high-ranking servants, and guests.

Its park once featured fountains, cascades, grottos, and sculptures, with star-shaped paths radiating from the palace. Schloss Lindich attracted notable guests such as Emperor Napoleon III, poet Ludwig Uhland, and composers Hector Berlioz and Franz Liszt, and it served as a residence for Princess Eugénie before she moved to Villa Eugenia in Hechingen.

During the Nazi period, the castle was temporarily used as an SA sports school. After World War II, the castle and surrounding buildings were rented out and later converted into private residences following acquisition by a community of owners in 1984. Today, the manor retains its historical charm and offers scenic views over the Zollernalb region.
