Schloss Luisium
Dessau-Roßlau, Germany, Germany
Schloss Luisium is a small neoclassical country house built between 1774 and 1778 in Dessau-Roßlau, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, as a gift from Prince Franz of Anhalt-Dessau to his wife Princess Louise, designed by architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff.
Nestled in an idyllic 14-hectare English landscape park with neo-Gothic and classical garden features like the Snake House, gatehouses, ruined arch, fountains, grottoes, and a nearby stud farm, it forms part of the UNESCO-listed Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom.
The palace's intimate interiors boast graceful neoclassical stucco, allegorical wall paintings symbolizing female virtues, a Pompeian Cabinet, and a ceremonial hall, making it a preserved gem of Enlightenment-era landscape architecture open for guided tours.
