Schloss Lütetsburg
Lütetsburg, Germany, Germany
Schloss Lütetsburg is a historic castle complex in Lütetsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany, that gives its name to the surrounding community east of Norden in East Frisia.
Originating from a 13th-century outer courtyard expanded into a stone house by the Manninga family in the 14th century, it evolved through Renaissance rebuilding in 1557-1576 by chieftain Unico Manninga, passing to the Innhausen and Knyphausen family via marriage in 1588, who remain owners today.
The current two-story, four-wing brick structure with towers was rebuilt in 1959-1960 on 15th-century foundations after a fire, featuring a preserved 16th-century Renaissance forecourt with a 1731 gate tower, and it's complemented by a renowned 30-hectare English landscape park from the late 18th to early 19th century with global plant varieties, walking trails, and seasonal beauty.
