Schloss Mahlitz
Schollene, Germany, Germany
Schloss Mahlitz, also known as Gutshaus Mahlitz, is a historic hunting lodge-style castle in the Mahlitz district of Schollene, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, with roots tracing back to a Wendish settlement first mentioned as "Malici" in 948 and later as "Malicin" in the 12th century.
Rebuilt after being abandoned as a wasteland in the 14th century, it became a 1,000-hectare knight's estate under the von Katte family from 1872, with the current structure constructed in 1889 during Major Rudolf von Katte's ownership and expanded by his son Kuno, featuring an inscription "Ich und mein Haus, wir wollen dem Herren dienen" above the entrance.
The estate operated until World War II land reforms divided its lands, after which the castle served as communal housing until 2003; now privately restored by owner Thomas Sturm, it includes a family mausoleum in the park and stands for sale.
