Schloss Malberg
Malberg, Bitburg-Prüm, Germany, Germany
Schloss Malberg is a striking Baroque castle perched on a mountain spur overlooking a scenic meander of the Kyll River in the village of Malberg, within Germany's Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm district in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Built starting in 1707-1708 with expansions including an arcade linking the Renaissance-style Altbau from around 1700, a Neue Haus, and a 1714 chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity, it uniquely echoes Italy's Villa Valmarana designed by Andrea Palladio, featuring a nearly square courtyard framed by buildings, balustrades, and a Madonna niche above the gate.
Owned by the Bitburger Land community since 2014, its romantic gardens offer free panoramic forest views from Easter to November, while interiors host seasonal guided tours, cultural events, concerts, and theater in summer.
