Schloss Neuenburg in Freyburg an der Unstrut, Germany, is one of the largest and most significant medieval castles of the Thuringian Landgraves, built around 1090 by Ludwig the Springer of the Ludowingian dynasty to secure their eastern borders after acquiring the region through marriage.

It features robust Romanesque fortifications including a double chapel, bergfried tower, and extensive walls, later expanded into a Renaissance hunting lodge in the 16th century under Elector August of Saxony and used by the Dukes of Saxe-Weissenfels until the 18th century.

After serving various administrative roles, it was restored and opened as a museum in the 20th century, offering insights into medieval history and ties to figures like Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia.
