Schloss Neustadt
Neustadt an der Orla, Germany, Germany
Schloss Neustadt is a Baroque residence in the heart of Neustadt an der Orla, Thuringia, Germany, constructed in 1674 by Duke Moritz of Saxe-Zeitz on the site of a 1294 Augustinian hermitage and earlier medieval castle foundations.
Originally serving as a ducal seat after the monastery's 1524 dissolution—visited multiple times by Martin Luther—it features a split church nave forming a grand entrance, surrounding utility buildings, and a manicured park preserving monastery remnants like a round tower.
The palace later hosted courts, grand ducal family stays, and administrative functions before becoming a cultural landmark near the town's market square and Ernst-Thälmann-Straße.
