Schloss Nörvenich
Nörvenich, Germany, Germany
Schloss Nörvenich in Nörvenich, Germany, is a Gothic moated castle built around 1400 by bailiff Wilhelm von Vlatten as a fortified water residence on the town's edge, later known as Gymnicher Burg under the Gymnich family from the late 16th century.
The two-story brick manor features heavy hipped roofs with dormers and a surrounding moat, expanded through centuries with a west wing in the mid-16th century and modern sculpture garden in the dredged outer trench.
Owned since 1980 by the artist family Bodenstein, it now houses a Museum for European Art with exhibitions, hosts weddings and events in its historic Knights' Hall, and stands as the area's sole surviving noble seat amid pre-Roman settlement traces.
