Schloss Oldenburg in Oldenburg, Germany, is a Renaissance palace built in the early 17th century by Count Anton Günther on the site of a medieval castle dating back to around 1100, originally constructed to control trade routes between Westphalia and East Frisia.
Expanded with Rococo facade decorations and Classicist wings by later dukes and grand dukes who resided there until 1918, it features opulent interiors like the Marble Hall and state rooms filled with art collected by the nobility.
Today, it houses the State Museum for Art and Cultural History with exhibits on decorative arts, local history, old masters, and the Nazi era, surrounded by the Schlossgarten English landscape park.
