Schloss Oranienstein Diez
Diez, Germany, Germany
Schloss Oranienstein is a Baroque palace in Diez an der Lahn, Germany, constructed between 1672 and 1681 on the ruins of Dierstein Abbey by widowed Countess Albertine Agnes of Nassau, later expanded by her daughter-in-law Amalia from 1704 to 1709 into its current grand form with 318 rooms, ornate halls like the Blue Hall, and a chapel used for concerts.
Serving as a key residence for the House of Orange-Nassau—including exile refuge for Prince William V after the French invasion—it passed through Luxembourg dukes before Prussian annexation in 1866 turned it into a cadet school, Nazi boarding institution, and now Bundeswehr barracks with a Nassau-Oranien Museum accessible via guided tours.
