Schloss Osnabrück
Osnabrück, Germany, Germany
Schloss Osnabrück in Osnabrück, Germany, is a striking Baroque palace built between 1667 and 1675 as the residence for Prince-Bishop Ernst August I of Brunswick-Lüneburg and his wife Sophie of the Palatinate, replacing the older Iburg Castle.
The four-winged structure centers on a grand Corps de Logis with alternating full and mezzanine stories, featuring a 25-meter-long festival hall, while its yellow facade overlooks a rectangular three-hectare Baroque garden designed by Martin Charbonnier.
Since 1974, it has served as the main administration building for the University of Osnabrück, with the garden hosting cultural events and a nearby Gestapo cellar memorial.
