Schloss Randau
Magdeburg, Germany, Germany
Schloss Randau is a neoclassical manor house built in 1885 by entrepreneur Paul Hennige on the foundations of an earlier estate in Randau-Calenberge, a district of Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Its origins trace to a 13th-century castle first documented in 1236, held by the Lords of Randau until its destruction by Magdeburg forces in 1297, later rebuilt by the von Alvensleben family around 1609 in Renaissance style only to burn in 1631 during the Thirty Years' War.
The current structure features a grand staircase, column-supported round arches, and adjacent utility buildings within a spacious park once boasting an obelisk, pavilion, and orangery, though it has fallen into decay as a listed cultural monument amid ownership disputes.
