Schloss Riede
Bad Emstal, Germany, Germany
Schloss Riede is a well-preserved Renaissance castle built in 1563 by the noble von Meysenbug family on medieval foundations in the village of Riede, part of Bad Emstal in Germany's Kassel district.
This three-story plastered structure on a high natural stone base features a framed Renaissance portal, a sturdy round corner tower, a multi-story eastern bay window, and a high mansard roof with dormers and curved gables from the early 18th century, later expanded with west and south wings in 1679 and 1878.
Nestled at the forest edge below Klauskopf hill amid a historic estate with a manor farm, barns, Baroque church, and kitchen garden, it was restored in 2009 and now serves as private property surrounded by an English-style landscape park created around 1770.
