Schloss Siebeneichen
Meissen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Siebeneichen is a Renaissance palace in the Siebeneichen district of Meissen, Saxony, Germany, perched on a rocky spur above the Elbe River opposite the Spaargebirge hills.
First mentioned in 1220 as a monastery estate of the Holy Cross Abbey, Ernst von Miltitz rebuilt it around 1553-1555 as a three-story structure with two towers and gables, marking the first major noble residence in the Meissen region, later expanded in 1748 with a Baroque three-wing addition after a fire during the 1745 Battle of Kesselsdorf.
Held by the Miltitz family until 1945 expropriation, it features preserved Renaissance ceilings, a walled garden, and a 35-hectare English-style landscape park from the early 19th century, now serving as an adult education center with natural history exhibits.
