Schloss Tann
Tann, Germany, Germany
Schloss Tann is a Renaissance and Baroque castle complex in the town of Tann in Hesse's Fulda district, Germany, arranged around a nearly square courtyard with three distinct wings: the Rote Schloss, Blaue Schloss, and Gelbe Schloss.
Originating from a 12th-century moated castle built by ministeriales, it was expanded starting in the 16th century by the von der Tann family branches, who transformed it into a grand residence still privately owned by their descendants today.
The Rote Schloss on the town side features red-framed windows and Renaissance elements from 1558 with later Baroque updates, while the four-story Blaue Schloss from 1680-1716 and the massive Gelbe Schloss completed in 1714 by architect Johann Mützel add blue and yellow accents, towers, ornate portals, and an inspectable ancestral hall.
