Schloss Trautenburg
Schloßberg, Austria, Germany
Schloss Trautenburg is located in Schloßberg near Leutschach, Styria, Austria—not Germany—first documented in 1234 as a steward's farm under Reinhard II. von Mureck, lord of nearby Burg Schmirnberg.
Expanded into a four-winged Renaissance castle from 1581 by Ehrenreich von Trautmannsdorf after acquisition by his family in 1493, it passed through noble lines including the Boset von Trautenburg from 1759, suffering damage from 1944 bombings and postwar occupation before restoration.
Today, the moated complex features a prominent round tower with a weapons hall and prison, alongside a large hall and associated ghost legends like the Wild Hunt.
