Schloss Tucheim
Germany, Germany
Schloss Tucheim in Tucheim, a district of Genthin in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, originated from a Slavic settlement and 10th-century Ottonian burgward, with its castle first mentioned in 965 when Emperor Otto I gifted "civitas Tuchime" to the Magdeburg archdiocese, which built fortifications documented by 1222.
Passing to the von Byern family by 1312 and sold to the von der Schulenburg in 1602, Joachim Friedrich razed the old structure around 1610 to erect a manor house on its foundations, remaining in their possession until 1834 before sales to figures like Kammerherr von Lindau, leading to 19th-century expansions including a lateral wing.
Rebuilt in Baroque style by the mid-18th century with a main tract featuring a nine-part window front, central risalit, and 1901-added tower under a mansard hipped roof, the protected monument now stands on a park-like estate needing restoration, currently for sale as a 958-square-meter property.
