Schloss Velden
Velden, Germany, Germany
Schloss Velden, located in Velden am Wörthersee, Carinthia, Austria (not Germany), is a Renaissance castle originally built from 1590 by Baron Bartholomäus Khevenhüller as a manor house on the shores of Lake Wörthersee, completed in 1603.
Confiscated from the Protestant Khevenhüllers in 1629 during the Counter-Reformation and sold to the Dietrichstein family in 1639, it suffered fire damage in 1762, later serving as an inn before late-19th-century reconstruction as a luxury hotel popular with royalty and celebrities.
Today operating as the Falkensteiner Schloss Hotel Velden after modern renovations, the Neo-Renaissance landmark features four towers, lake views, and a casino, blending historic charm with upscale amenities.
