Schloss vor Husum
Husum, Germany, Germany
Schloss vor Husum is a Renaissance palace just outside Husum in Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, built from 1577 to 1582 by Duke Adolf of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf on the site of a former monastery.
This three-winged red-brick structure in Dutch Renaissance style features a prominent central tower, symmetrical E-shaped layout with side utility wings, and ornamental gables, later modernized around 1612, 1750 with Baroque elements, and 1792.
Serving more as an administrative hub than a full residence, it was a widow's seat for duchesses, Danish royal property after 1721, and today houses Nordfriesland district offices alongside a museum on regional history and culture.
