Originally the ancestral seat of the Counts of Waldeck, it later served as military barracks, a state prison, archive, and forestry office before becoming a hotel in 1906, now operating as the 4-star Hotel Schloss Waldeck with elegant rooms, fine dining restaurants, a spa, and panoramic terrace views over the lake and forests.

The preserved medieval complex hosts weddings, guided museum tours, and events like fairy tale days, blending its fortress heritage with modern hospitality.
