Schloss Wallhausen - Helmut Meier-Föllmi
Wallhausen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Wallhausen in Wallhausen, Germany, is a Renaissance castle possibly built on the site of a Carolingian-era Saxon court and a key imperial palatinate in the 10th and 11th centuries, linked to figures like Otto the Great.
Originally featuring a water castle with a chapel around 1150, it was reconstructed around 1606-1613 by Ludwig von der Asseburg, suffered damage in the Thirty Years' War, and underwent further renovations until 1650.
After ownership changes, including expropriation in 1945 and use as a school until 2004, Swiss gallery owner Helmut Meier-Föllmi purchased it in 2005, transforming it into a hotel, restaurant, art gallery, and cultural venue with modern art exhibitions and artist studios.
