Verified Schloss Weilerbach

Bollendorf, Germany, Germany

Schloss Weilerbach is a small Baroque castle in the village of Weilerbach, part of the municipality of Bollendorf in the Rhineland‑Palatinate Eifel region of Germany, close to the Luxembourg border.

It was built between 1777 and 1780 by the Benedictine Abbey of Echternach not as a traditional noble seat but as a summer residence for its abbots and as an administrative building for the nearby Weilerbach ironworks, making it in effect an estate tied to early industrial production.

The castle stands on a roughly 25‑hectare estate with a spacious Baroque‑style garden inspired by French models, including a pavilion, a canal‑like water feature, and a Brunnenhaus, and its two‑story, plaster‑coated stone building with a mansard roof and a small tower has been repeatedly restored after war damage and later disuse.

Today Schloss Weilerbach functions as a multi‑purpose venue hosting events, concerts, and conferences, with parts of the complex used as a museumcafé, museum space, and restaurant while the park and restored ruins of the old ironworks remain open for visitors to explore as part of the local cultural and industrial‑heritage landscape.
