Schloss Wildenberg is a historic castle complex located in the municipality of Wildenberg in the Kelheim district of Bavaria, Germany. Originally built as a hilltop fortress in the 13th century, it later developed into a castle and became the seat of the local noble Ebran von Wildenberg family, who controlled the surrounding estate for several centuries. The castle stands on an elevated site known as the Schloßberg, overlooking the surrounding countryside. Its layout reflects its medieval defensive origins, including fortified walls, towers, and a central courtyard. Although parts of the original fortifications have been lost over time, significant sections of the historic structure remain preserved. Unlike many castles that were heavily damaged in regional conflicts, Schloss Wildenberg survived major events such as the Landshut War of Succession and the Thirty Years' War without being destroyed. Over the centuries, it was modified and adapted, blending medieval features with later architectural additions. Today, it is recognized as a protected cultural monument and an important part of Bavaria's historical heritage.
