Schloss Wust
Wust-Fischbeck, Germany, Germany
Schloss Wust, also known as the Herrenhaus Wust, is a modest Baroque manor house in Wust, part of Wust-Fischbeck municipality in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, rebuilt around 1726-1727 by Hans Heinrich von Katte after the previous structure was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War.
Owned by the von Katte noble family since 1380, it forms an Ehrenhof with the late-Romanesque village church, where family member Hans Hermann von Katte—executed in 1730 for aiding Crown Prince Frederick's failed escape from his father—is buried in the crypt alongside ornate sarcophagi.
Expanded with side wings and surrounded by a 25-hectare Baroque-landscape park designed in 1755 featuring statues later relocated, it hosted art exhibitions and events until post-WWII changes, reflecting the family's deep ties to Prussian history.
