Schlosspark Allner
Hennef, Germany, Germany
Schlosspark Allner in Hennef, Germany, surrounds the 15th-century Schloss Allner, a moated castle first documented in 1421 under Arnold von Merkelsbach and expanded around 1643 by Bertram Scheiffart von Merode with towers and a great hall.
Transformed from a defensive water castle into a residence through ownership by families like Spies von Büllesheim and Hatzfeldt, it saw Gothic renovations in 1875 under Albert Mooren before serving as an orphanage until 1973 and suffering WWII battle damage.
Today the private estate's expansive park connects via a 2010 bridge to a preserved watermill, offering scenic grounds with condominiums amid the Nutscheid hills near the Sieg River and Allner See.
