Schnitger-Orgel der Kirche Blankenhagen
Blankenhagen, Germany, Germany
The Schnitger-Orgel in the Dorfkirche Blankenhagen, located in the village of Blankenhagen near Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, is a historic pipe organ built by renowned master Arp Schnitger between 1686 and 1687.
Originally crafted as a 12-register Brustorgel with two manuals and attached pedal for the Reformed Church in Hamburg-Altona, it was relocated to Blankenhagen in 1833 and later modified in 1851, preserving Schnitger's ornate Baroque case, one wind chest, three full registers, and parts of three others.
This rare surviving example of Schnitger's work, one of northern Germany's finest organ builders, remains a cultural treasure in the simple village church, showcasing 17th-century craftsmanship.
