Se Kohe Castle
Iran, Iran
Se Kohe Castle, also spelled Seh Kohye Castle is a historic fortress located in Hamun County in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran.
The castle dates back to the Qajar dynasty (18th–20th centuries) and is recognized as one of the prominent structures of the Sistan plain, often described as the second-tallest building in that region. The fortress is organized into three main parts: a southern citadel, a central citadel that forms a central square, and a northern citadel that historically served as a resting area for the ruler and his family.
Its name “Se Kohe” or “Seh Kohye” refers to the three hills or elevated sections that make up the site, and the castle’s strategic position on high ground reflects its defensive and administrative role in the region during the Qajar era. Today, Se Kohe Castle is registered on Iran’s National Heritage List and functions as a cultural and tourist landmark, illustrating the architecture and historical importance of Qajar-era fortifications in the Sistan and Baluchestan area.
