Sehestedt is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, uniquely split by the Kiel Canal constructed between 1887 and 1895, with its medieval origins first documented in 1282.
The village centers around Gut Sehestedt, one of the region's oldest knightly estates from the 13th century, originally a moated castle replaced by a 1728 Herrenhaus amid protected farm buildings like barns and a remise that shaped local life as lord, judge, and employer until serfdom ended around 1805.
Owned by the Ahlmann family since 1929, the active farm preserves its historical layout near the Romanesque St. Peter and Paul church from the early 13th century, site of the 1813 Battle of Sehestedt during the Napoleonic Wars.
