Semb hovedgård
Norway, Norway
Semb hovedgård is a historic manor estate located by Borrevannet in Horten municipality, Vestfold, Norway, on land with possible Viking origins and records dating back to the 1400s. In 1825, educator Jacob Sverdrup established Norway's first agricultural school there, turning it into a model farm and gathering place for Scandinavian farmers. Rebuilt in 1910 after a fire to designs by architect Herman Backer, it was expanded in 1916 by industrialist Sam Eyde, former Norsk Hydro CEO, who pioneered industrialized agriculture, built top golf courses, an equestrian complex, and a stud farm on the 1,760 mål property.
