Verified Sialkot Fort

Sialkot, Pakistan

Sialkot Fort, believed to be originally built by Raja Salban around the 2nd century CE, was constructed as a fortified stronghold with double walls to protect the city of Sialkot, one of the oldest cities in the Punjab region. The fort underwent several renovations across centuries, including significant repairs ordered by Shahab ud-Din Ghori after his conquest, and later by Mughal rulers such as Raja Man Singh and Safdar Khan.

Archaeological studies during the 20th century uncovered an ancient second wall, dated to roughly 5,000 years ago, beneath the current remains. Though the fort now mostly lies in ruins, it played a vital role historically as a military and administrative site, situated strategically between the Ravi and Chenab rivers.

Today, the fort area includes some public buildings and the shrine of Pir Muradia Shah, preserving its cultural and historic legacy in Sialkot.
