Sib Castle
Iran, Iran
Sib Castle, also known as Seb or Sib and Suran Castle, is a tall, fortified adobe building in Sib and Suran County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran.
Dating to the Safavid era, it stands about 27 metres high and is considered the tallest adobe structure in the country, built on a natural rock outcrop with a rectangular base and a terraced, two‑storey form that narrows toward the top.
The castle served as a seat of power for several local rulers over the centuries, including dynasties such as the Hout, Buleidi, Rind Dagarani, and Gichki, combining defensive walls, four towers, and a three‑metre‑high perimeter barrier with royal chambers, water‑supply features, and finely carved wooden doors, and today it is a registered national‑heritage site and a striking example of traditional Iranian desert‑fortress architecture.
