Siderno is a coastal town in Calabria, southern Italy, located in the Locride area of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, just a short distance from Locri on the Ionian Sea.

It is best known as a popular seaside resort with wide, sandy beaches and clear water, but it also has a historic hilltop village called Siderno Superiore that rises about 192 meters above the sea. This upper part is a medieval‑style settlement with narrow alleys, old stone houses, and well‑preserved 17th‑ and 18th‑century noble palaces featuring distinctive barrel‑vaulted balconies and carved stone portals.

The lower seaside area, Siderno Marina, stretches along the “Costa dei Gelsomini” and offers a long promenade lined with bathing establishments, restaurants, and bars, making it a busy summer destination for Italian and foreign visitors. Siderno Marina’s beach is regularly recognized for cleanliness and amenities, holding Blue Flag and similar distinctions, and it provides easy access and facilities for families and water‑sports lovers.

The town’s history is layered, with traces of Greek and Roman presence and later a fortified Byzantine‑style “kastron,” while today it combines relaxed coastal life with cultural events such as the White Night, the Siderno Carnival, and summer festivals centered on local food and the sea.
