Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho, opened on June 20, 1988, when Gary Norton transformed his former Henley Aerodrome property, complete with an airstrip and hangar museum into a charming spot featuring a narrow-gauge steam train looping the grounds, Main Street shops, eateries, and initial carnival rides that drew 110,000 visitors in its debut year.

Now spanning 413 acres as the Northwest's largest theme and water park with over 70 attractions including six roller coasters like the wooden Timber Terror, hybrid Stunt Pilot, and classic Corkscrew, it offers family rides, thrill coasters such as Aftershock and Tremors, live shows, and the adjacent Boulder Beach Water Park with wave pools, speed slides, lazy rivers, and kid zones all included in admission.

Family-owned by the Nortons, it hosts seasonal events like Scarywood Haunted Nights in October with mazes and scare zones, celebrates 37 years in 2025 amid expansions, and draws 650,000 guests annually for nostalgic fun in northern Idaho's scenic forests near Coeur d'Alene.​
