The Singing Dune, located in Altyn-Emel National Park in southeastern Kazakhstan, is one of the country’s most remarkable natural attractions. Rising about 150 meters high and stretching for several kilometers, giving it the name “Singing Dune.” The unusual sound is created when millions of dry sand grains rub and vibrate together, generating a low-frequency resonance that can be heard from a considerable distance. Unlike many desert dunes, the Singing Dune has remained largely in the same location for thousands of years due to the surrounding mountain ridges that help stabilize it. Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of Altyn-Emel National Park, the dune offers spectacular views of the desert, mountains, and the Ili River valley. Its unique acoustic phenomenon and striking scenery make it one of the most famous natural wonders in Kazakhstan.
