Spangenberg Castle in Hesse, Germany, is a medieval fortress with origins dating back to the 13th century, initially under the Prince-Bishopric of Speyer.

It was significantly extended in the late 15th century after destruction during the Weißenburg Feud in 1470. The castle's architecture features strong defensive elements such as ramparts, a massive battery tower, underground passage systems, and a moat with gatehouses. Throughout its history, it served various roles: a residence of nobility, a fortress strengthened during the Thirty Years' War, a state prison, and later a forestry school.

Although it was captured and looted in the Seven Years' War, the castle was spared during the Thirty Years' War. It suffered damage during World War II but was rebuilt with much of the medieval structure preserved. Presently, the castle hosts a hunting museum, functions as a hotel and restaurant, and is a popular historic site offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
