Spiaggia Coaquaddus
Maladroxia, Province of Sulcis Iglesiente, Italy, Italy
Spiaggia Coaquaddus (also spelled Coacuaddus) is a stunning long beach of coarse white sand on the southeastern coast of Sant’Antioco Island in southwestern Sardinia, near the locality of Maladroxia in the Province of Sulcis Iglesiente.
Its name means “horse’s tail” in Sardinian, referring to the sinuous, curvy coastline where numerous coves follow one another. The beach is divided into two parts by a large rock and is bordered by limestone cliffs, creating a picturesque bay surrounded by green hills that give the water shimmering turquoise and ever-changing green reflections.
The sandy seabed stays shallow for many meters, making swimming safe and easy even for young children. The sparkling white sand and the sea’s color-shifting waters are among Sant’Antioco’s main attractions, set within a beautiful natural landscape. Coaquaddus offers various services including a large parking area, snack bars, and restaurants, and the nearby Porto Pino dunes are visible from the sand looking toward the sea.
Near the rocks, the rich underwater life and crystal-clear water make snorkeling, diving, and spearfishing particularly appealing. The beach is easily reachable by car from Sant’Antioco town along the SP 104 road, turning left after about 10 kilometers and following signs to the beach.
