St Felix Public Beach
Mauritius, Mauritius
St. Felix Public Beach is a serene, secluded stretch of white sand on Mauritius’s wilder south coast between Souillac and Bel Ombre, often called one of the most beautiful beaches in the south of the island. The beach features immaculate milky-white sand contrasting with dense green vegetation and stunning turquoise-to-aqua waters, and it’s divided into two parts by the town of Morne, with the section toward Le Morne being the more beautiful and intimate one. Unlike crowded tourist beaches, St. Felix stays quiet especially on weekdays, offering a peaceful escape perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, and enjoying spectacular sunsets that draw many photographers after 5 pm. Swimming is not recommended due to strong offshore ocean currents, coral reefs, rocks, and toxic stonefish hiding on the seabed, so visitors should wear beach shoes and avoid entering the water. The beach is well-maintained with public facilities including lots of free parking, clean toilets, grassy shaded areas, and vendor stalls selling drinks and food, making it ideal for day trips with friends or family. Activities include deep sea fishing, speed boat trips, volleyball on the sand, and simply soaking up the untouched natural beauty of this rarely crowded paradise.
