Trou aux Biches Beach is a picture-perfect public beach on Mauritius’s northwestern coast in the Pamplemousses district, frequently ranked as one of the island’s best beaches and awarded World’s Leading Beach Destination at the 2011 World Travel Awards. It features a roughly two-kilometer stretch of soft white sand shaded by casuarina trees, backed by turquoise lagoon waters that are calm and shallow, making it ideal for families and safe swimming. The beach offers excellent snorkeling and diving with colorful coral reefs just offshore where you can spot vibrant marine life, and several diving schools operate nearby. Popular activities include long relaxing walks under the trees, watching spectacular sunsets that paint the sky in golden and pink tones, and trying water sports available through the nearby resorts. The area started as a 19th-century fishing village and has grown into a small town with boutique hotels, resort spas, shops, and restaurants, while the beach itself remains rarely crowded thanks to its length.
