Stanley M. Rowe Arboretum in Indian Hill, Ohio, was founded in 1926 by Stanley M. Rowe Sr. and his wife Dorothy Snowden Rowe on their estate as a botanical collection and living laboratory.

The couple developed a remarkable collection of over 1,800 species of trees, shrubs, and plants representing diverse climates, aiming to test and grow plants from around the world in the Cincinnati area. Their interest began with a state initiative offering free tree seedlings to help stabilize hillsides, which led to a large nursery and extensive plantings. Over time, more land was acquired, eventually forming an approximately 170-acre experimental forest.

After Stanley Rowe's death, the central arboretum area, about 8.9 acres, was left to the Village of Indian Hill to be maintained as a public park and green space. The arboretum is praised for its scientifically valuable collections, including outstanding conifers, crabapples, magnolias, oaks, and beeches, and it offers visitors a peaceful natural environment for recreation and education.

Stanley Rowe was also a prominent community leader who contributed greatly to Cincinnati’s urban planning and conservation efforts.
