The State Arboretum of Utah, located across the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City and including Red Butte Garden, covers about 1,500 acres featuring over 7,000 trees of 300 species and varieties, with more than 200 taxa of conifers.

Established in 1961, the arboretum serves to foster public knowledge and appreciation of trees and plants growing locally and worldwide. Red Butte Garden, part of the arboretum, spans over 100 acres with 21 acres of developed botanical gardens and more than five miles of hiking trails through natural areas.

The garden is renowned for its diverse plant collections, including unique oak hybrids developed through pioneering research, and it offers educational programs, conservation efforts, and cultural events. The arboretum and garden combine horticultural science, education, and natural beauty, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
