Sterrenberg Castle, perched high above Kamp-Bornhofen in Germany's UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley, is one of the region's oldest hilltop fortresses, first mentioned around 1034 as an imperial castle and owned by the Lords of Bolanden until the mid-13th century.

Alongside its neighboring Liebenstein Castle, it earned the nickname "the hostile brothers" due to a legendary feud between siblings—possibly inspired by real 14th-century rivalries over ownership between figures like Archbishop Balduin of Trier and Count Diether von Katzenelnbogen—leading to the construction of a prominent "Quarrel Wall" between them.

Featuring a surviving bergfried keep, Gothic ladies' house, double shield walls, and Rhine-side buildings now used as a restaurant, the castle fell into ruin by the 18th century after serving as a customs guard and defensive outpost, but today it hosts tours, events, and vacation apartments.
