The Swabian Castle of Cosenza is a historic fortress that stands on Pancrazio Hill, overlooking the old city of Cosenza in Calabria.

The site has ancient origins, but the castle was expanded by the Normans in the 12th century and later rebuilt and strengthened by Emperor Frederick II in the 13th century, giving it much of its current character. Over the centuries, the castle served many roles, including a military stronghold, royal residence, mint, seminary, and prison.

Its strategic position made it one of the most important defensive and administrative centers in the region. Today, the castle is one of Cosenza’s most recognizable landmarks. Visitors are drawn by its impressive architecture, rich medieval history, and panoramic views of the city, the Crati Valley, and the surrounding Calabrian landscape.
