Sylt is Germany's largest and northernmost North Frisian Island, known as the "Queen of the North Sea," located off Schleswig-Holstein's coast between Denmark and the North Sea, covering 99 square kilometers and featuring a distinctive sickle shape.

The island is famous for its 40 kilometers of pristine white sandy beaches along its western shore, vast tidal mudflats of the UNESCO-protected Wadden Sea to the east, and glamorous spa resorts like Westerland (the main resort area and capital), Kampen, and Wenningstedt-Braderup. Half of Sylt's land is protected nature reserve, making it a paradise for nature lovers, while its iodine-rich air and invigorating "Reizklima" sea climate attract wellness seekers, surfers, sailors, golfers, and foodies.

The island is connected to the mainland by the 11-kilometer Hindenburg Dam causeway, accessible by car or train, and also has an airport for quick travel. Sylt is Germany's most exclusive resort destination, historically attracting celebrities like Marlene Dietrich and Thomas Mann, and is known for its upscale hotels, gourmet restaurants, chic boutiques, and thatched-roof Old Frisian houses built to withstand the harsh North Sea weather.

Activities include Watt hikes across the tidal flats to observe seals and wildlife, oyster farming tours with Champagne, nudist beaches, horseback riding, surfing, and enjoying the island's vibrant nightlife, while the best time to visit is late May through early September for beach activities and water sports.
