Teie on Nøtterøy island near Tønsberg, Norway, centers around the historic Teie hovedgård, a medieval estate owned by the Bishop of Oslo from the 1100s as a summer residence and oversight base, passing to private hands like Mathias Foyn after the 1537 Reformation, who built its grand manor around 1803. In 1877, its northern area including the farm transferred from Nøtterøy municipality to Tønsberg city, later hosting a naval submarine base overtaken by Germans in WWII for POW camps, sold back post-1945, and repurposed for municipal and educational uses. Today, the area features the functionalist Teie Church from 1977 with its prior daycare phase, and the early 20th-century garden city plan blending English and German influences into residential development.
