The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, originally founded as Jamia Abbasia in 1925, is a public university and the largest higher-education institution in Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan.

It was established to provide religious and modern education, transitioning to a general university in 1975 and now offering over 300 disciplines across 15 faculties including sciences, engineering, social sciences, law, and pharmacy.

The university encompasses several campuses, with its main Baghdad-ul-Jadeed campus occupying 1280 acres, and additional campuses in Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan. It hosts more than 1800 teachers, including 550 PhDs, and is recognized for its commitment to quality teaching and research. Recent years have shown rapid academic expansion, but the university has also faced issues including administrative scandals and corruption investigations involving senior officials.

Despite these challenges, IUB remains a significant educational institution with a large student body and prominent alumni in diverse fields.
