The White House in Washington, D.C., is both the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States, and one of the most iconic buildings in the world. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, it has served as the home of every U.S. president since John Adams moved in during 1800.

Designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban in the Neoclassical style, the White House was constructed between 1792 and 1800 and has undergone numerous renovations and expansions over the centuries. The building comprises 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and spans over 55,000 square feet. It includes the Executive Residence, the West Wing (home to the Oval Office), the East Wing, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The White House is not only a functioning seat of executive power but also a living museum of American history, hosting state dinners, press briefings, and ceremonial events. Visitors can explore the White House through public tours, which must be requested in advance through a member of Congress.
