The Timur’s Mausoleum (Gur-e-Amir) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is the final resting place of the renowned conqueror Timur (Tamerlane) and one of the finest masterpieces of Timurid architecture.
Built in the early 15th century, the mausoleum is famous for its striking blue ribbed dome, intricate tilework, and richly decorated interior adorned with gold and intricate geometric designs. The complex also contains the tombs of several members of the Timurid dynasty and is regarded as a landmark that influenced later Islamic architecture, including famous Mughal monuments in India.
